If you, or a family member would like to use beach mobility equipment free of charge this summer, it is essential to sign up for a short online information session before booking. Beach equipment is booking up fast and can only be reserved after the online session has been completed.
Mae Murray Foundation Inclusive Beaches are barrier-free zones created to meet the needs of people who may be disabled by the beach environment. These unique beaches offer: Land based all-terrain wheelchairs, beach walkers as well as floating wheelchairs – where there is lifeguard presence. Hoisting facilities and adult sized changing benches are also provided at each location. Equipment is loaned free of charge, must be pre-booked and is subject to Terms & Conditions of use. The scheme was temporarily withdrawn in 2020 due to the pandemic but has now restarted with new hygiene and safety processes.
How is equipment booked?
A list of Inclusive Beaches, equipment options, schedules and the simple 6 step booking process, can be found on the Mae Murray Foundation website. Go to http://www.maemurrayfoundation.org/projects/inclusive-beaches/
