The CYPSP Fermanagh and Omagh Locality Planning Groups in partnership with the Western Outcomes Group recently hosted a seminar to bring together practitioners working with families in the western outcome area to understand the level of poverty experienced by families in rural communities. 

Karen McHugh and Seana Connor, coordrinators of the Omagh and Fermanagh Family Support Hubs from Action for Children shared an overview of the role of the family support hubs to signpost families to range of local support services based on their needs. They spoke about the growing numbers of parents who refer themselves for support, particularly from rural areas however the lack of services to support families experiencing poverty that live in rural communities have become increasingly apparent. 

Helen O’Neil from the Health and Social Care Board highlighted the number of services that are held on the online Family Support NI database. Visit the website at www.familysupportni.gov.uk
