Rainbow Project and Here NI supported through Big Lottery funding have begun the Same Sex Family Project in Northern Ireland. The project offers same sex attracted parents and their families a space for: social opportunities

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual &Transgender  (LGB&T) Children and Young People’s Showcasing Event –12th September – 13:30 – Youth Action – Belfast

 The event is aimed at anyone who works with young people at practitioner level or who are in a position to  influence policies and  actions which impact on the lives of children and young people.

  • The event will provide an opportunity to engage with young people from the LGB&T community.
  • Receive an update on the development of the new DE Children & Young People’s Strategy and an overview of local LGB&T research relating to young people.
  • The event will also be an opportunity to showcase local initiatives and     services and provide an opportunity for inter-agency networking.

CARNEGIE ROUNDTABLE ON MEASURING WELLBEING
A Carnegie Roundtable on Measuring Wellbeing event was held on 7 July in Belfast. Established in 2013, membership of the Carnegie Roundtable on Measuring Wellbeing comprises representatives of the public sector, academia, business and community sectors.
Attended by the deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, the event highlighted the ongoing development of the next Programme for Government and the new outcomes based approach being taken. Anti-Bullying Week 2016

Anti-Bullying Week (ABW) is coordinated by the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum and takes place from the 14th-18th November and is supported by Translink.  NIABF is an interagency group hosted by the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) NI and funded by the Department of Education.
Schools and youth groups across Northern Ireland are being encouraged to get involved with Anti-Bullying Week 2016 to register online to receive a free resource pack. This will include presentations, activity plans, project briefs and ABW16 themed posters.
The ABW competition has exciting new opportunities to involve the whole school/youth community, with particular emphasis on engaging adults such as teachers, youth workers, parents and carers in discussing “How we can use our strength together to end bullying”.

Odyssey Parenting Your Teen Programme

Parenting NI are pleased to announce the next round of their signature programme Odyssey Parenting Your Teen, will be taking place in Portadown,Strabane Antrim & Belfast in September 2016.

The programme will run on the dates below and and is free to attend.

Portadown – Tuesday 13th September – Tuesday 1st November

Strabane – Tuesday 13th September – Tuesday 1st November

Belfast – Thursday 22nd September –  Thursday 10th November

Antrim – Tuesday 27th September – Tuesday 19th November

This evidence-based 8 session programme is designed for parents of teenagers and has been found to significantly improve outcomes for parents, teenage children and the family as a whole.
