Resilience Training for Early Years Practitioners

RESILIENCE is the award winning film that is helping the world wake up to the far reaching impact of childhood trauma on children, communities and society.

Emotional well-being in young children is a fundamental priority for early years’ services. The role of practitioners in supporting emotional development cannot be understated.

Join us for a one day seminar for early years’ practitioners.  The seminar will explore the importance of early attachment and addresses the importance of secure attachment relationships in building a foundation for resilience.  It will also address how relationships, trauma and adverse childhood experiences impact on brain development and physical, social and emotional health.  The seminar will include a screening of the award winning RESILIENCE documentary film.

Five training sessions have been arranged for October 2017. For further information and dates please click here

Back to School support for families in Downpatrick

The CYPSP Down Locality Planning Group coordinated the initiative over five months by encouraging families in the area to donate school uniforms that were still in good condition such as school blazers, shirts, ties, trousers and PE items.
Four local primary schools, five post primary schools and two community centres supported this initiative in Downpatrick over recent months. These items were then available for no cost at the two fairs that were hosted locally.

Over 126 families attended the Back to School events in that were held locally in the Ballymote Community Centre on 27 July and Downpatrick Leisure Centre on 16 August 2017.

One parent at the event said, ‘This has been one of the most helpful events I have ever attended, please run this every year!”
