Children and Family Charter – Tell us what you think

We want to create a Children and Family Charter for Northern Ireland to help children, young people and families understand their rights, know what to expect from services and support staff to work in the best way for them.

The model for the Children and Family Charter is based on four key parts:

  • Standards
  • Support
  • Share
  • Speak up

By taking part in the survey, young people can help shape how the Charter is made and shared.

Questions? Email: info@statsandstories.co.uk

This consultation is open to anyone who may have a view — including children, young people, parents, carers, staff, professionals, and policymakers.
We particularly encourage you to share this with children, young people, and parents/carers.

Young People aged 16 to 21 years who live in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area are invited to apply to be part of the Youth Voice programme.

Newry, Mourne and Down Youth Voice will provide young people with the opportunity to:

  • Engage with key decision makers
  • Have their say on local issues
  • Meet new friends
  • Be a representative voice for young people in their area
  • Be involved and pro-actively engaged with local decision-making processes

This two-year programme will be facilitated by the Community Planning Partnership within Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in collaboration with the Education Authority Youth Service along with other statutory partners.

The Youth Voice group will meet on a weekly basis to identify and take forward common issues relating to young people in the local area along with opportunities for residentials and to participate in study visits to UK or Ireland.

Everyone is invited to apply regardless of background, abilities, or interests.

We require representatives from right across the geographical spread and underrepresented groups to ensure the diverse needs of young people in the area are heard.

This year’s theme is #LeadWithLove

This theme encourages us to approach ourselves and others with kindness, compassion, and acceptance, no matter the challenges we face.

Small acts of love such as  kindness to a friend, or  practicing self-love can spark powerful waves of positivity that ripple outward.
