The South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) has published resources about the digital wellbeing of children and young people.

The guidance aims to assist professionals, parents and carers in supporting children’s wellbeing online. It looks at the impact of exposure to abuse or online harm on a child’s digital wellbeing and provides information on the role of digital technologies in relation to welfare.

Parenting NI – New ‘Solus’ Research Project

Parenting NI have a new project called ‘Solus’.

Solus is a research project looking at the financial challenges of separated parents and one parent families.

They want to know about what financial hardships separated parents and one parent families are facing and what effect this is having on their physical and mental health.

The project aims to understand the support separated parents and one parent families need and to develop practical solutions to make sure the right support is available for them.

Parenting NI will work together with separated parents and one parent families to be their voice and to help them to share their experiences.

A Parent support and Participation Officer will also provide support for these parents once they engage with the project. This will be in the form of Top Tips sessions and one to one support.

11-16 Yr Olds Can Now Get Their COVID Travel Certificate on Their Phone

Vaccination and recovery travel certificates for this age group are applied for by parents and guardians.

The young person can then download the app to their phone and simply scan the certificate obtained by their parent or guardian.

This will also assist those travelling with groups of young people – such as teachers on school trips – by providing a digital backup to printed certificates.

The new feature on the app also allows young people to display a COVID Recovery certificate – the official record of a positive PCR test.
