Now Project Family Service

 

The NOW Group Family service supports new and expectant parents who have a mild to moderate learning disability/difficulty or who is on the Autistic Spectrum. We provide both pre and post natal support for parents, as well as their greater family within the Greater Belfast area. This support is on a one to one basis and is tailored to their individual needs, this support aims to build confidence, develop skills and encourage participants to engage with their local communities and services. There is also the opportunity for individuals to connect with NOW Group’s other services including Training, Volunteering and Employment.

Referral Criteria

Our referral criteria is as follows:

  • Male or female with a mild to moderate learning difficulty or disability or on the Autistic Spectrum.
  • Lives in the Greater Belfast Area.
  • Expectant parent or a parent with a child under the age of 4.

Team Programme for unemployed young people aged 16-24years

 

Pathways Adventure Activities in partnership with the Princes Trust are running two Team programmes, in Bangor and Larne, starting on Monday 20th February 2017!  

This is a great opportunity for unemployed young people, aged 16-24 years to gain relevant qualifications and experience whilst working on their personal development along the way!

 

About the programme

This 12 week programme includes a Team Building residential, a Community Project, work placement (of the young person’s choice!) as well as vital CV writing and real-life career skills!

We also provide support after the programme to help young people into a positive outcome, some form of employment, education or training.

This programme does not affect their benefits entitlement whatsoever, we will pay for all travel (public transport), and we will also pay for childcare costs if required.

Cyber Safety Training for Parents

Are you concerned about your child’s safety in an increasingly online world?

Children in Northern Ireland are delighted to be partnering with the PSNI to launch a series of FREE cyber-safety workshops  for parents in venues across the country in March 2017. The courses are open to parents and carers of children, including grandparents.

 

It will cover, among other things, the following:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Sexting
  • Social Media Risks
  • Adult Content
  • Gaming
  • Online Grooming

CREDability Road Show- 22nd March 18.00 –21.30

CREDability road show is an informative event for anyone working across the Youth Sector. There will be information stands from disability organisations with resources to take away. Parent/teen communication- 2 day training course

This 2-day workshop style course will be beneficial for those wishing to develop and extend their knowledge in the area of parent/teen communication as part of their role in the wider community in the Northern Trust area.
