Connecting Domestic, Sexual and Internet Based Abuse Session – 9 May 2017

 

 

Would you like to meet other individuals and groups who are working in your local area to challenge domestic, sexual abuse and internet based abuse?

 

The Western Domestic and Sexual Violence Partnership and the CYPSP Western Area Outcomes Group with partners are taking collaborative action to raise awareness of the impacts of domestic, sexual and internet based abuse across the western outcomes area.

This event will bring together colleagues from across the western outcomes area who wish to find out what is happening across the area including:

  •  A brief overview of Western Domestic and Sexual Violence Partnership remit  and in particular the implications of the strategy for sexual  as well as domestic violence?
  • Information on the activities undertaken and being planned to address sexual violence within the Partnership and sub groups?
  • Identifying and sharing practitioner concerns in relation to sexual violence
  • Clarifying  assistance /support the Partnership might provide for practitioners in relation to domestic and sexual violence
  • An overview of E-safety including the work of the Western E-Safety Steering Group

This event is being hosted by the Western Domestic and Sexual Violence Partnership, Western E-Safety Steering Group, CYPSP Western Area Outcomes Group and Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

STOP Campaign in the Western Outcomes Area

Parenting NI in collaboration with the CYPSP Western Outcomes Group will host a series of STOP Campaign training workshops across the Western Outcomes area in June 2017.

Professionals working with families can be a prime influence on the attitude of parents in managing their children’s behaviour. This training supports professionals to empower parents to explore other options in relation to behaviour management and alternatives to physical punishment.

Western Outcomes Area Children and Young People’s Plan now available

 

Following a series of stakeholder engagement events across the Western Outcomes Area the CYPSP Western Area Outcomes Group Children and Young People’s Plan is now available. The ‘obsessions outlined within the plan have been endorsed by locality planning groups, family support hubs and colleagues working to improve outcomes for children, young people and families across the west.

Western Area – Guide to local Drug and Alcohol Services

 

The Western Drug and Alcohol Coordination Team (DACT) have  recently published the local guide of Drug and Alcohol Services in the Western Outcomes Area. This guide provides a range of interventions to agencies, families and individuals that will offer the right support for individuals in local communities to address alcohol or drug related harm. Services available include: services for adults, services for young people and support for family members who have been affected by someone’s alcohol or drug use.

Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) and Hidden Harm Networking Breakfast

A networking breakfast brought together 22 community, voluntary and statutory sector organisations including community groups, families, local councillors, churches and food banks with the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership’s (CYPSP) Fermanagh and Omagh Locality Planning Groups on 6 September 2016.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) and encourage expecting mothers to stand firm in keeping their baby safe by not drinking alcohol during pregnancy. Evidence has found drinking at any stage of pregnancy can cause harmful effects to an unborn child with some resulting in longer term impacts on a child’s life.
