Health and Wellbeing Programme of Events 10 & 11 March 2017

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are hosting a two community health and well being events in  Ardglass and in Downpatrick (Ballymote Centre) on 10 and 11 March .

The events aim to:

– Promote services supporting health improvements in Downpatrick DEA

– Link individuals to new healthy activities

– Provide health screening for residents  in both rural and urban parts of the Downpatrick DEA Consult with community on current and future healthy living activities

Alongside the provision of breast and health screening facilities at each location (Action Cancer and Farm Families mobile screening vehicles) we are arranging a healthy community meal and community information / discussion session open to all local people, with opportunities for a wide range of health service providers, community organisations and others to let people know how they can be of help.

Located within each of the Ardglass and Ballymote Community Centres there is no charge for this – just bring your stall, promotional material, and relevant equipment as needed.  It would be particularly helpful to know if you can be part of either or both of these events before 28 February.

Ballymote is being targeted for socio-economic reasons and we are locating in Ardglass to direct support to fishing community families as well as support the community organisations in the area.  This maybe a particular opportunity for some services to engage with hard to reach communities.
