Parent Mornings in Antrim and Carnlough – February/March 2016

A number of Parent Mornings will be held in Antrim and Carnlough to provide support to parents living within the rural localities.

The four week parent programme has been implemented to meet the needs of the parents and provide the necessary support including:

– Paediatric Emergency First Aid
– Mental Health Awareness
– Behaviour Management
– Time out for me

Children’s Mental Health Week 2016 – Survey

The Family Wellness Project are undertaking a survey on ‘Talking to your Children about Mental Health’ as part of Children’s Mental Health Week 8-14 February 2016.

Children’s Mental Health Week campaign hopes to raise awareness of the benefits of getting children support at the earliest possible opportunity, and to encourage parents/carers to talk openly with children about their feelings and getting help.

Staying Safe Online – 13 February 2016

An Internet Safety Presentation will be held on Saturday, 13 February 2016 from 9.30am – 2.30pm in Newry Leisure Centre, Patrick Street, Newry.  Those presenting will include Carol Todd, whose daughter Amanda took her own life after suffering online abuse; PC Laurie McCann, Toronto Police; NSPCC; PSNI Public Protection Branch; and Anita Dennison, a local Diana Award recipient.

Who’s Responsibility is it?

Parenting NI are currently working with the Department of the Environment and consulting with parents on plans to extend seat belt legislation for children (aged 3 – 13) on buses and coaches.  The Department of the Environment (DoE) welcome your views on where responsibility should lie for ensuring that seat belts are worn by such young passengers. The Incredible Years Northern Ireland (IYNI) Co-ordination Project – Survey

The Incredible Years Northern Ireland (IYNI) Co-ordination Project wants to hear from all organisations involved in the delivery of Incredible Years in Northern Ireland.  This short survey is designed to:

  • help update the NI map on availability of Incredible Years programmes; and
  • find out if and how the IYNI Co-ordination Project has supported organisations.
