New Year, new me?? Small steps to a healthier you

The “New Year, new me” mind-set is all over social media with so much talk of “quick fix” weight loss and detox diets.

In reality, we don’t need to have a complete overhaul of our diet or cut foods out. That’s just not sustainable. Small changes that are consistent, sustainable, and enjoyable add up over time.

We should try to prioritise the four basic pillars of health – nutrition (the food we eat), movement, mental wellbeing and sleep. Evidence shows us that each of these pillars is important in its own way. Together, they support our short and long-term health and wellbeing.

Choose one small change, master it, maintain it, and then move onto the next- you don’t have to do everything at once.

You could start with choosing some healthier snacks. Get some inspiration from our Public Health Dietitians in this short video https://youtu.be/bo7tJfIQ9J0?si=QtG0XolOmBHc8CHz

This NEW dietitian-approved toolkit shares practical tips and ideas that we can implement on a daily basis to feel good from the inside out, which supports our health and wellbeing in the long-term. The aim is to inspire us to think beyond weight loss as our only health goal and instead to think about our overall health and wellbeing, now and into the future.
