Calling mental health service providers to attend the Carrickfergus Youth Fair

Pupils from four post primary schools in the Carrickfergus area will be brought together next month for the annual Carrickfergus Youth Fair. The fair will offer young people aged 15-16 years the opportunity to engage with local services providers to improve the mental health of young people and inform of positive lifestyle choices.

 

The Carrickfergus Locality Planning Group are hosting the Youth Fair on;

Tuesday 7th February 2017

Oakfield Community Centre, Carrickfergus

9.30am – 3.30pm

 

This is an excellent opportunity for organisations to showcase their information and support services to over 400 Year 11 pupils who will be attending the fair from four local post primary schools in Carrickfergus.

Launch of the ASD and Me App

Young people from Millgreen Youth Club in Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus College and the Inclusion Youth Project in Whitehead have been working with the Education Authority Youth Inclusion Project, Digital Media Choices, Northern HSC Trust ASD Coordinator and CYPSP members for the past two years on an ASD and Me project.

Through leadership and guidance of Digital Media Choices, young people learnt the confidence and skills in using digital technology including DVD production and the co-design and development of an app, named ASD and Me. The App provides a safe and confidential space for young people to express feelings, share experiences and provide a ‘go to guide’ on difficult situations based on personal and individual coping strategies for peers to share and update…. Carrickfergus Locality Planning Group would like to invite organisations to the Carrickfergus Youth Fair on the 9th February 2016 from 9.15am- 3.30pm at Oakfield Community Centre, Oakfield Drive, Carrickfergus.

Carrickfergus Supporting Siblings Event was held on Thursday 30th April from 6pm to 8pm in Sunnylands Community Centre. Twenty three young people aged 9-18 years attended the event. The Supporting Siblings Event was targeted at siblings aged 9 plus who had a brother or sister with an ASD diagnosis. The event was organised in Partnership with the NHSCT ASD team and supported by Barnardo’s Young Carers Service.
