To access the two previous editions, just follow the links on Page 73. We have consistently been asked what provision is available in the summer time and know how valuable this is to families and also practitioners to be able to share.

Our next edition is on Thursday 17th July, so please bear this in mind when sharing your flyers and information – See Page 75 for details of all July to December newsletter dates & deadlines.

We hope you enjoy your summer and get a chance to have a well-earned break!

An invitation to families to participate in ADHD-focused and Autism/Learning Disability-focused Parent Programmes this Summer

The Changing Lives Initiative: Flourish & Thrive project will be delivering two parent group programmes over the summer to support families of a child/ children with behaviours consistent with ADHD and/ or Autism/ Learning Disability.

Starting in early July and over August, we will be delivering a number of these two group programmes, Parents Plus (online) and Triple P Stepping Stones (in person). We welcome individual parents, co-parents, carers, foster parents and grandparents wishing to participate in the programmes. It isn’t necessary for your child to have a formal diagnosis for you to take part.

The programmes are a great opportunity to meet other families, gain some support and learn additional skills and strategies. Even for parents who have previously completed a programme, it is a good opportunity to gain some support and refresh skills.

Help Kids Talk

Help Kids Talk is an award winning project within Early Intervention Lisburn (EIL) which is led by the Resurgam Community Development Trust, the SEHSCT Speech and Language Therapy Team, Barnardo’s NI, and Early Intervention Lisburn partnership. Help Kids Talk is funded by the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council. The Help Kids Talk vision is that “everyone will work together to help kids talk”.

The project is a community-wide initiative and aims to ensure everyone with responsibility for babies, children or young people, prioritises their speech, language, and communication development. This project will result in a positive impact across all areas of a child’s life including educational attainment, mental health and wellbeing, social relationships, and employability later in life.

We run a social media campaign based around 12  key messages of the month, which have been developed as guidance for parents, carers and practitioners to promote early attachment and SLC skills. https://www.facebook.com/helpkidstalk
