We are hurtling towards Summer during these busy weeks, and just to give you an idea of the various Awareness Weeks and Campaigns currently running and coming up: Volunteers Week is running now and next week sees Men’s Health Week, Infant Mental Health Awareness Week, Loneliness Awareness Week and Carers Week. Further information on all these start on Page 18.

We are also in the middle of ‘Summer is Coming’: an addition to ‘FYI’ to highlight forthcoming summer schemes and activities across the Southern Area. This is essential for families and practitioners to know what is available for children, young people and families this summer. Keep sending us your information on these and anything else which can be of use to children, young people and families.

This is the first of 3 special editions to promote upcoming summer activities for children and young people in the Southern Area. You will see a call for submissions on Page 4 on what to submit and we are very keen to also take ides for no / very low cost activities that families can do over the summer months with their children.

We have also included our School Uniform Toolkit on Page 3: A free practical resource for use by any group who want to set up and run a recycling scheme in their area. For anyone wishing to find out more about this and learn how we can help support you, please contact us at the usual address.

School Uniform Recycling Toolkit 2024

The Southern Area School Uniform Recycling Toolkit is a FREE resource for any school, community organisation or group to use to help set up a recycling scheme. Including editable flyers, checklist templates and evaluation tools, this resource can be used across Northern Ireland – download here

For anyone who wishes to use the Toolkit, or for further information, contact Darren Curtis, CYPSP, at localityplanning@ci-ni.org.uk, as we aim to track all usage of the resource to demonstrate the impact of this initiative.

See our 2023 Toolkit Infographic to find out about the impact of last year’s School Uniform Recycling Initiative on schools and organisations.

Thanks for your submissions towards another jam-packed edition of our e-bulletin.  Please note, the Digital Discovery Online Focus Group on page 26 takes place tomorrow morning via MSN Teams, so register soon if you can. It’s a really good chance to offer practical feedback and ideas to help improve digital media coverage of mental health and emotional wellbeing support across Northern Ireland.

Other opportunities are included across the Southern Area, with sections also running at the back for area-specific events, programmes and support. Please share these with colleagues and families with whom you work.
