Primary six and seven children in Bushmills have shared their views on the development of the Children and Young People’s Charter as part of the Bushmills Education Project. This piece of work is part of the Bushmills Education Project running from 2013-2014.

Bushmills Education Project - it takes a community to education a child

Following a series of conversation workshops with parents, children, young people and professionals and a concluding Education Matters conference on 21 June, the Bushmills Residents Environmental Forum (BREF) and CYPSP Bushmills Locality Planning Group (LPG) have published the findings of the Education Matters project in a research report, ‘It takes a community to educate child’.

A community meeting is being held on 6 September between local residents, BREF and the CYPSP Bushmills Locality Planning Group to develop a community plan. The community plan for Bushmills will be informed by the research that has taken place over the last year.

Education Matters Project, Bushmills

Atteendee's at the Education Project Matters workshop 21-06-13

Young people, parents and representatives from the community, voluntary and statutory sector organisations met with political representatives on 21 June 2013 to discuss how to work together to improve educational outcomes for children and young people in the Bushmills area. Young people and parents who attended the event were provided with the opportunity to talk about their educational experiences and aspirations for young people in education in the Bushmills area.

Bushmills Education Project

Bushmills Residents Environmental Forum (BREF), Community Foundation Northern Ireland and CYPSP Bushmills Locality Planning Group are calling all parents within the Bushmills area to a workshop on educational outcomes of children. Come along to this event and have your views heard.

The event will be at the French Rooms in Bushmillls on 9th May at 7pm.
