Cookstown Supporting Siblings Event

Cookstown Supporting Siblings Event was held on Thursday 23rd April from 6pm to 8pm in Cookstown Leisure Centre. Twenty eight young people aged 9-18 years attended the event. The Supporting Siblings Event was targeted at siblings aged 9 plus who had a brother or sister with an ASD diagnosis. The event was organised in Partnership with the NHSCT ASD team and supported by Barnardo’s Young Carers Service. Bellaghy Young People presenting to Northern Outcomes Group

Fourteen young people from the Bellaghy Youth Included Project  attended the Northern Outcomes group to inform them about how the Outreach Youth Service is making a difference in the rural areas of Cookstown and Magherafelt Locality Planning Groups and in particular in Bellaghy.
Marie Roulston, Northern Outcomes Group Chair thanked the young people for an excellent presentation. Members of the Northern Outcomes Group praised the work of the young people and agreed that this was a model of good practice which should be rolled out to all communities.

Cookstown Locality Planning Group – Volunteer Roadshow

Cookstown Volunteer Roadshow

 

In partnership with Holy Trinity College and Cookstown High School on Tuesday 25th September 2012 a Volunteer Roadshow was offered to years 12, 13 and 14 in both post primary schools. Young People said ‘It’s good to know what’s going on’ ‘There is a lot of choice and it definitely opened my mind’ ‘volunteering helps your CV’. Of those who attended 86% said they would be interested in volunteering.
